Who else loves creamy oat milk? In only five minutes you can learn how to make your very own oat milk from the comfort of your home. You can bake with it, add it to your coffee (my personal favourite), and it’s non-dairy!
Unlike other non-dairy milk, with oat milk you don’t need any nut milk bags or special blenders. It takes only five minutes to make and hey! It can also save you some money because you can make much more oat milk for less money with a bag of oats vs. purchasing a carton of oat milk from the store.
Another fun part about making your own oat milk is that you can get creative with it. If you like vanilla, you can add vanilla extract to it or you can sweeten it with flavoured syrups. You can make it your own!
What you will need:
- 1 cup oats
- 4 cups water (cold or room temperature)
- 2 dates (optional for sweetness)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Once you have all your ingredients:
Combine in a blender (don’t blend for more than 35 seconds because the oat milk may become slimy)
Pour oat milk over very fine strainer (I used a mesh strainer, you can also use a nut milk bag, and I also heard a clean fine knit cotton t-shirt can even work)
There you go, you have some fresh homemade oat milk! I love it in my coffee in the morning but it’s also great in matcha lattes or tea.
